• Carol Bartz fired (over the phone) - A woe for Yahoo!?

    0

Carol Bart, who was appointed to be CEO of Yahoo! In 2009, was apparently fired over the phone.
She has confirmed this via her iPad.
According to TechCrunch.com, the message was to Yahoo! Staff and said:

    To all,

I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.

  • MISSING: iPhone5

    0

It has been all over the news that the secret iPhone5 prototype is lost. Rumour has it that an employee lost this precious device at a bar in San Francisco and this prototype has been missing since July 2011.
Some people have invented a hypothesis that this is just another marketing ploy.
Apple has allegedly requested assistance from the police to help them track down the missing prototype.
If the Apple iPhone5 has disappeared and is discovered by someone who knows a lot about the smartphone technology, then this phone will not be worth a dime.
If this is, indeed, a marketing strategy to get people hyped up about the soon to be released fifth production of the iPhone, why get the police involved?
This should make you think twice about who you trust in the office.
Apple is yet to comment on this matter.

  • Google wishes a Happy 65th to Freddie Mercury

    0

Many internet users who have google.com as their home page woke up to a tribute to Freddie Mercury, late lead singer for Queen.
The tribute was in the form of a classic doodle. This Google doodle has set the bar quite high for aspiring Google doodlers. It was an absolute superlative doodle I have seen from Google.  The doodle was incredibly entertaining and had very fun bits and pieces that celebrated what an extraordinary songwriter, gutsy fashion icon with a staggering hair raising voice.
What Google did today proved how well technology and art work when intermingled.
This also confirmed that there are actual human beings working to keep Google at the crest of the search engine world, and not just mere robots.

  • Nikon COOLPIX L120

Firstly, I must say that this is by far one of the best cameras I’ve come across.
The craftsmanship of the camera is as if they built it just for you. It’s not awkward to handle, not too small to blunder and press the wrong buttons and definitely not too big to not know which buttons to press.
This digital camera has a 21x zoom with wide-angle capability with 14.1 megapixels of imaging intensity. This digital camera is cool because unlike some digital cameras, this one does not distort an image when zooming in on an object.
It has a high-resolution LCD monitor which displays breathtaking images which works perfectly outdoors as well as indoors.
    My Opinion:
Going to an event and want to capture the moment? Well, this camera has a HD movie recording with stereo sound that will work great for this.
If you have large hands or tiny hands, then this Nikon COOLPIX L120 shouldn’t be a problem for anyone old enough to handle the latest gadgets, big or small.
This digital camera is for both amateurs and professionals.
    It’s affordable, too.

  • DELL INSPIRON N5030

With the Intel Pentium Dual core inside, multitasking is unbelievable. One can do research on the internet, do an assignment, listen to music, play a game of solitaire, update your facebook status and more all at the same time. The days of doing one thing at a time are over.
The DELL INSPIRON N5030 has an integrated webcam and microphone with the image and sound quality screaming for Apple’s help. However, the 15.6” HD Display is good, but not great. It seems the more I use this notepad, the worse the touch pad get. The cursor goes to a completely different direction that I point it to go. Sometimes it even disappears to I don’t know where.
What more can I say other than this notebook was released way before its time.
There’s definitely more room for improvement.

    The Good:
One can watch movies with the DVD-RW optical drive.
    The Bad:
NO BLUETOOTH!!!!!! In this day and age, REALLY?!
The more data you store on the hard drive, the more time-consuming the notebook gets. But then again, it has the Intel Pentium.

    My Opinion.
If you’re sick and of working at the desktop, not big on Bluetooth technology, don’t really care about webcam technology ‘cause you’re not into Skyping and new to the notebook world, then this is the laptop for you. It’s for people who just want to write documents, create spreadsheets and slide shows and that’s it for the day.
But if you’re a techno buff, love sending and receiving data via Bluetooth and other technologies, this is not the notebook for you. If your store a lot of memory consuming data and work countless hours on the laptop, then I recommend a notebook with a faster CPU, perhaps the Intel i3 Dual Core.

  • SKULLCANDY EARPHONES

I needed a pair of earphones and spontaneously bought the skullcandy earphone.
This was the best first and last spontaneous decision I have made when it comes to buying cool gadgets.
When I inserted the pair in my ears and pressed play, it was as if there was a live band playing in my living room.
The sound quality is just way too out of this world. I'm able to hear ALL the instruments in a song.
Unlike other ear phones that end up giving you headache or even making the inside of your ears hurt, these ones fit in snugly, and they don’t make you feel like a drummer lost his drum set and decided to use your ear drums instead, plus after you’re done listening to your music, you can carry on doing what you were doing before because your head won’t be pounding in pain.
And no, the headaches aren't caused due to very high volume( that's not good for your ear health, anyway.)
    My opinion:
If you're big on music and getting a live band to perform for you in your living room is not in your budget, then getting a pair of these skullcandy ear phones will do the trick.
They are affordable and a great buy!

  • The CrackBerry..Oops, I mean the BlackBerry!

    BLACKBERRY BOLD 9700

The “CrackBerry” as many people refer to the BlackBerry is a very popular phone.
It’s the fourth leading smartphone in the world, according to engadget.com.
I have been using the BlackBerry for a few months and, like any other man-made object, it has some good aspects to it as well as bad aspects.

    The good:
Everything’s at the touch of a button.
You can use this smartphone for almost anything.
For starters, you can access your e-mail(s), listen to music, surf-the-net, access your favourite apps all at the same time.
If you’re into instant messaging, the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is the best friend you’ve been searching for. With this application, you can chat to your friends all the time. This is done by one of your friends inviting you to chat away, using the BBM Pin you gave them. And vice versa.
Another awesome fact about the BlackBerry is that one just pays R60 (South African currency) and have access to the web all day long for just R2 a day.
This, I believe, is extremely reasonable.

    The bad:
When you’re an internet junkie, like I am, then you’ll be disappointed to know that you must search one topic at a time. This can get very tiresome if you use your smartphone to research absolutely everything. One can’t load more than one page at a time.
I’ve only had the BlackBerry for approximately a 12 months and I’m already experiencing problems with the trackball.

    My opinion:
If all you care about is receiving e-mail(s), business calls and if using the BlackBerry browser isn’t your only access to surfing the net, then the BlackBerry Bold is definitely for you.
If you’re a teen, in your early twenties or you rarely have busy days, you’ll probably love using BBM. But if you plan on making Google your best friend, listening to hundreds of hours of music, you’re more of an apps person than an e-mail person or even love watching youtube clips on your phone all day, then you might want to reconsider the choice of phone you would like to buy.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is more of a business savvy phone than a all-fun-all-play phone.
